Dear Colleagues,
I am delighted to invite you to the 6th Meeting of the German- Japanese Society for Vascular Surgery to be held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Leipzig, Germany, 26th - 28th August 2010.
This is the 3rd meeting taking place in Germany since Prof. Okada from Kobe successfullyinitiated a new German- Japanese cooperation in 1998.
Since the foundation of our Society vascular surgery has developed enormously. Endovascular techniques are still of great importance and have become daily routine for us. Hybrid operations are carried out.
Considering the demographic development, the limits of the individual subject areas have long been exceeded. In the centre of our attention is the prematurely aged, multimorbid patient who is suffering from vascular disease with all accompanying dis- orders and risk factors and who is undergoing treatment in interdisciplinary centres for vascular medicine.
At our meeting we would therefore like to discuss all aspects of vascular surgery and vascular medicine and kindly ask you, dear colleagues, to submit contributions for oral presentations in all fields.
It is one of my primary concerns, corresponding with our Society, to give young vas- cular surgeons in Germany and Japan the opportunity for scientific exchange and the chance to establish international contacts and foster cooperation.
Leipzig is very rich in traditions but also a very modern city. It was place where the peaceful Monday Demonstrations took place in 1989, which eventually led to the Ger- man Reunification. Leipzig is a stronghold of art and culture and this year we celebrate the 600th anniversary of Leipzig University.
We are looking forward to interesting scientific discussions and eventful days together with you in my hometown.
Welcome to Leipzig!
Sincerely yours,
Dr.med.Karin Brachmann
Congress President
